An Act authorizing the town of Billerica to establish an age limit for original appointment to the position of police officer

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 58A of chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other special law to the contrary, no person shall be eligible to have their name certified for original appointment to the position of police officer in the Town of Billerica if such person has reached their 40th birthday on the date of the entrance examination. Any Veteran shall be allowed to exceed the maximum age provision of this section by the number of years served on active military duty, but in no case shall said candidate for appointment be credited more than four years of active military duty, or to a maximum of 43 years and 364 days for Veterans of active military duty. SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage. The information contained in this website is for general information purposes only.
