About

Dismantl is a Massachusetts-based community devoted to turning political curiosity into civic engagement. We aim to channel news-fueled frustration into thoughtful dialogue, practical activism, and grounded local action.

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

To spark meaningful discussions that lead to understanding, rather than outrage. We reject toxic, engagement-driven online algorithms in favor of simple, purpose-driven dialog.

Our Vision

To build a space where users can present the best possible cases for the arguments they deconstruct, fostering transparency, critical thinking, and reform-minded discussions; to push for tangible, systemic change in Massachusetts and beyond.

Site Features

Roots, Branches, and Splinters

Roots, Branches, and Splinters are how posts on Dismantl connect ideas: Roots show what a post builds on, Branches reveal what builds on it, and Splinters challenge posts directly.

Privacy First

We don’t collect personally identifiable information, serve ads, or track your activity. Only essential data—such as your email address—is stored to support site functionality.

Curated Contribution

Commenting is open to all users, but posting privileges are reserved for those who take the time to engage thoughtfully. "Contributor" roles must be manually requested to maintain clarity and depth in discussions.

Distraction-Free

No third-party plugins, no gamification, no distractions. This site is designed to promote deep discussion without the noise of irrelevant features or external influence.

Site Rules

No toxicity

Bold, thoughtful critique is encouraged—name-calling, trolling, and bad-faith engagement are not. Our goal is constructive, respectful debate, not the degradation of discourse. This space is free of sealioning, concern trolling, or any other form of manipulation disguised as civility.

No misinformation

Misinformation won’t find a home here. While we welcome controversial takes, they must be based on facts and thoughtful analysis. Claims that can be definitively debunked—whether intentionally misleading or due to poor research—will be subject to action.

No personal information

Respect for privacy is non-negotiable. We encourage debate about public figures and ideas, but any attempt to reveal private, personal, and/or non-public information will be swiftly addressed and penalized.

Be receptive

We encourage a willingness to reconsider your views and engage with new perspectives. Disdain for alternative ideas or refusal to engage with good-faith perspectives undermines constructive dialogue and is not conducive to the goals of this platform.
